HOLISTIC YOGA EDUCATION

Holistic yoga is an approach that facilitates the optimum health of the whole individual, through the harmonious integration of physical, mental and spiritual self-development.

Yoga is a living tradition that originated in India and has been practised in one shape or form for many thousands of years. Yoga has enormous health benefits which is why it is now practised by millions of people all over the world. The type of yoga which has become so popular in the western culture originates in the Hatha Yoga lineage and is characterised by an emphasis on physical postures and breathing techniques that help the body to become strong and flexible, the mind calm and focused.

'Yoga' means 'to join' or 'connect' and is the practice of attaining union of body, mind and spirit.

James has been practising and teaching Yoga for a number of years. He studied 'yoga education' in India at an ashram in the lineage of Swami Satyananda Saraswati. He subsequently trained with the Devon School of Yoga and went on to join's the school's teaching team. James teaches a range of weekly classes in Exeter, Torquay and Totnes. He also teaches on the Devon School of Yoga, foundation and teacher training programmes..
