Pranayama is renowned for producing exalted states of consciousness and mental clarity. It is also highly effective in promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to preliminary practices of kriya, charana and asana. We will explore several of the key techniques of breath control, as well as supplementary mudra practices. This workshop is suitable for those who have some familiarity with yoga - however experience of pranayama is not required.

James is delighted and honoured to be invited back to teach for the Devon Yoga Teacher's Federation. This workshop was originally scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

This workshop will comprise a day of holistic yoga and include the complete set of seated Kriyas from the tradition of Dr. B.P. Pillai.

The word 'kriya' comes from the Sanskrit root ‘kr’ which denotes action. Kriyas are activities which create the right conditions for the experience of yoga to take place. Kriyas are cleansing and offer a systematic, holistic method by which we can start to rid ourselves of toxicity, recharge our energy levels and enjoy increased vitality and good health. You do not need to be flexible or strong to learn the kriyas and they can be practised by almost anybody regardless of age, mobility or previous experience.

In this workshop, you will be introduced to Dr Pillai's Kriyas as well as complementary practices of asana, pranayama and relaxation. This workshop is for yoga teachers and/or members of the Devon Yoga Teachers Federation. Please contact the Federation for more info:
